Khodrocar - The upcoming Mercedes-Benz EQC SUV has been spied during cold weather testing in Europe.
Compared to the prototype we saw last year, this vehicle is starting to wear its own unique panels and lights, rather than borrowing all its sheetmetal from the GLC – though the family ties are still obvious.
More angular headlights poke through the swirly black-and-white camouflage, while the chunkier front and rear bumpers further distinguish the electric crossover from the mainstream Benz range.
Slimmer LED tail-lights feature out back, and the fat rear bumper gives away the electric powertrain as there are no exhaust tips whatsoever.
It’s also worth noting the massive brakes behind all four wheels, probably due to the regenerative braking system and extra weight of the battery and electric powertrain systems.
The final version is expected to look somewhat like the Generation EQ concept unveiled at the 2016 Paris motor show, which featured an all-electric output of 300kW thanks to a dual-motor setup, and a zero-emissions driving range of around 500 kilometres.
Mercedes-Benz plans to launch 10 all-electric vehicles under its new EQ electric sub-brand by 2025, having already trademarked several new model names including EQA, EQC, EQE, EQG and EQS – hinting at what to expect.
All EQ vehicles will be underpinned by a new scalable platform specifically developed for electric vehicles, allowing for electric motors on one or both axles, and a lithium-ion battery pack under the floor of the cabin.
